My name is Mara-Ioana Stoicescu, I am 25 years old, and I come from Bucharest, Romania.
I graduated from the “I.L. Caragiale” National University of Theatre and Film (UNATC) in 2024, specializing in Animation Theatre.
My journey into acting began during high school, where I joined the theatre company at Alexandru Ioan Cuza High School. Later, I became a member of OKaua Theatre Company, an experience that gave me the opportunity to perform at some of Romania’s most important theatre festivals, including the Shakespeare Festival in Craiova and the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS).
Looking back, I remember feeling like a tiny ant in a vast world. I didn’t fully understand what was happening inside me at the time, but there was a quiet voice somewhere in the back of my mind whispering, “Mara, you’ve found your place.” From that moment on, I knew I wanted to dedicate myself to acting. Whether the road is easy or difficult, I have never considered giving up on this dream.
I am naturally curious, deeply sensitive, and genuinely in love with life. I enjoy discovering new experiences and constantly challenging myself to grow, both as an artist and as a person. Remaining still has never been part of my nature.
Movement is an important part of who I am. I practice beginner’s yoga, enjoy attending different fitness classes, and love long walks. Walking gives me the chance to observe the world around me—the people, the architecture, the rhythm of the city, and even Bucharest’s chaotic traffic. I believe that careful observation is one of the greatest tools an actor can develop.
I also love dancing. Although I have never trained professionally, I’ve always noticed that I learn choreography very quickly. I see this as one of my natural strengths and something I hope to continue developing throughout my career.
I believe every role is an opportunity to understand another human being a little more deeply.
