IONUŢ CARAS

Ionuț Caras is an actor at Cluj-Napoca National Theatre and a lecturer and PhD student at the Faculty of Theatre and Film, Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj. 

He has a BA in Acting from the Faculty of Theatre and Television in Cluj, class of 2004, under the coordination of his professor and mentor, Miklós Bács. He has performed in over 50 productions in the 16 years since he is actor at the National Theatre and has already collaborated with the greatest Romanian directors. Over the years, he has collaborated on various projects (theatre productions, workshops) with several cultural institutions and organizations in the country and abroad: The Romanian Cultural Institute in New York, Joaquim Benite Municipal Theatre in Almada, Odeon Theatre in Bucharest, “Mihai Eminescu” National Theatre in Timișoara, Romanian Opera in Cluj, “Transilvania” State Philharmonic in Cluj-Napoca, Teatro Era and the Pontedera Teatro Foundation in Italy, University of Hull, Scarborough (UK), and others.

In addition to his intense activity as an actor, his artistic activity also includes the mentoring of 5 generations of students at the Faculty of Theater and Film in Cluj.

Ionuț Caras played roles in 4 feature films: Libertate [Freedom], directed by Tudor Giurgiu  Portretul luptătorului la tinerețe [The Portrait of the Fighter as a Young Man], directed by Constantin Popescu,  De ce eu? [Why me?], directed by Tudor Giurgiu, Ana, mon amour, directed by Călin Peter Netzer, Cardinalul [The Cardinal], directed by Nicolae Mărgineanu. These films were selected and awarded at international festivals: Bratislava International Film Festival, Torino Film Festival, Cleveland International Film Festival, Gopo Awards Romania, Berlin International Film Festival, and others
